A letter from the CACMUN X Secretary-General
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
My name is Ana Gómez Garcés, and it is my distinct honor to serve as the Secretary-General of the Tenth Version of the Colegio Anglo Colombiano Model United Nations (CACMUN X). The virtual conference will host delegates from all over the Americas, being a pioneer in the country, and will take place on November 4th, 5th, and 6th of 2020.
I am certain that this opportunity will allow delegates to grow in their MUN trajectory, but most importantly as well-informed, and rounded human beings. In times of crisis like the one presented by COVID-19, is when collaborative, passionate, and determined leaders are most needed. And by leaders, I am not referring to politicians or CEOs, but to every single individual that acts consciously and tries to improve their communities for good. After all, that is the purpose behind MUN. It is more than just a three-day conference or simulation where we investigate, debate, and negotiate to find solutions for world problems. MUN is about breaking the bubble we live in, about creating awareness and changing our mindsets to be conscious, reflective, and active about the issues surrounding our closest and farthest communities. MUN is an eye-opener, it teaches us to dream, and empowers us to act, with “Eyes on utopia, feet on earth”.
I am a true idealist, believing that changing the world is done through the summation of small actions. And is due spaces like this one, where the hope I have for a better world increases. All of you are changemakers and took the first step just by agreeing to learn, reflect and discuss issues that are affecting our world. Therefore, I invite you to make the most of this opportunity. To enjoy each step of the process. To learn, increase your awareness, and reflect in a more critical way, always through the lenses of a changemaker. I encourage you to empower others and yourselves, to be an active member of the communities you belong to, and to make this world a better place.

We wish to warmly welcome you to CACMUN X. Being part of this United Nations Model is a privilege that not only allows us to enrich our knowledge but to enhance our leadership capacities and our critical thinking abilities when evaluating challenges of global relevance. The unprecedented situation that the world is now facing has drastically changed the reality of all and raises the importance of this model. This is why now more than ever it is our duty to be informed and constantly push ourselves to devise solutions; because the world requires fresh ideas and minds such as your own to face the ever aggravating challenges we face. Success in this model will require lots of effort and research, we expect debates of excellent caliber in which all delegates participate actively. Finally, we wish you a wonderful experience full of growth and innovation in the tenth version of the Anglo Colombiano Model UN.
