DISEC COMMITTEE
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: BEGINNER
Beginner commissions are suited for delegates who have recently started their journeys in MUN, and seek to improve their skills of debate, research and diplomacy in a safe and challenging space. The committees will be hubs of growth and learning, providing attendees with plenty of resources to fully prepare and enjoy their participation in the best of ways.
INTRODUCTION TO THE COMMITTEE
The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) is one of the six subsidiary organs of the General Assembly established by the UN Charter in 1945. The First Committee (another way of referring to DISEC) was established with the purpose to deal with and resolve issues of disarmament, threats to peace, international security risk patterns and global issues and challenges, all under the narrow scope of armamentational increase patterns, and de-escalation in reference to weapons.
